In all of my years of air travel this has happened only one time. Coming in for a landing they waved our landing off because we were too close to the aircraft taking off. The pilot hit the throttle, side shifted, pointed the nose to the sky, and put us back into the pattern.

We’ve also seen another United Airlines 777 lose a wheel during takeoff ago, and a United 737’s landing gear collapse while landing in Houston within the past three days alone.
