He wasn't Italian and wasn't particularly brave either. He was a Spanish guy who sailed under the Spanish flag, was prosecuted for tyranny by the Spanish government, and died in disgrace in, you guessed it, Spain.

US DOE tweeting a psychopathic, murderous, rapist character in support of Columbus. We need the names of the people behind these accounts for posterity so they can never be employed again in America.

Only Fatso could effortlessly infuse debunked Mafia ramblings into his administration's media outreach.

A loser who got lost! Donald Trump's White House released a social media post with an AI-generated image of Christopher Columbus declaring that he was "a hero." Trump's White House said "Columbus Day is back. 🇺🇸" Historians (and, indeed, anyone with a scrap of common sense and decency) can see straight through this propaganda. Christopher Columbus was no hero. In 1500, Christopher Columbus was arrested, shackled, and shipped back to Spain after a governorship marked by the enslavement, forced labor, and brutal punishment of Indigenous people. He reportedly refused to have his chains removed during the voyage, apparently hoping to impress upon the Spanish monarchs the terrible indignity of his own captivity. (Sources for skeptics: Smithsonian Magazine, Zinn Education Project, NMAI) For Italian-American Heritage Day, there is an extraordinary roster of Italian and Italian-American figures whose achievements in science, medicine, literature, civil rights, labor, public service, and the arts offer considerably more to celebrate than Christopher Columbus. Fiorello La Guardia, Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini (Mother Cabrini), Enrico Fermi, Arturo Toscanini, Geraldine Ferraro, Leonard Covello, Angela Bambace, John Basilone, Rita Levi-Montalcini, Frank Capra... Columbus never set foot in what is now the continental United States. Mother Cabrini spent decades serving people who lived here. Come on, Italian-Americans. Don't buy Trump's MAGA nonsense about this LOSER. Learn your history and want better for yourselves. Anyway. I encourage peple to instead observe Indigenous Peoples' Day, which is also a holiday today. Indigenous Peoples Day is celebrated on the second Monday of October and is meant to uplift and recognize the history and contributions of Indigenous People and the Tribal Nations. Who’s shocked that this administration would identify with Tony Soprano? I guess when you’re led by someone like @EDSecMcMahon this is what you should expect.

Hey US Department of Education, did Columbus and his men rape, enslave, and beat Taíno women? Did Columbus set foot on what is now the US?
