A break from the norm this morning because I am utterly baffled! Supposed to do a wee sample this morning, after my bloods yesterday. Was given this "kit" (see video) & instructions (need microscope!) I am 58 & I can not read or fathom this. How the hell is...

@ClareCraigPath By the time you’ve Pi*ssed about with it ( pardon the pun) the sample won’t even be sterile 😂😂 I won’t even log on the NHS App so I’ve no chance

@ClareCraigPath Love the pun! 😎 Peeing about is very apt! Going to the surgery for some answers, shortly. I am not expecting much.. 🙄

The only way to do this is to sterilise a glass bowl with very hot water prior to using it to pee in..then suck up the urine from the glass bowl - you could use hydrogen peroxide in the bowl for 5 mins then rinse well .then do the boiling water and just empty bowl

The nurse at the surgery yesterday gave me a plastic cup from the top of the water cooler! 😆 That is how concerned about sterility they are!

I have tried to pee in the other type of plastic container they often forget to give the cups :( I peed on my hand:( its also meant to be mid stream ...!!

I'd just pee into a container then syringe some up. Let them sort it out.

I used one of these this morning. Had literally no idea how to make it work but I didn’t have that tube with mine. I just pulled the tube syringe back and then poured some urine in the top and put the lid on. No idea how it’s supposed to work. Overly engineered crap

Is that the Bowel Screening kit ? I threw mine in the bin. They chased me repeatedly for the return. Something dodgy going on IMO.

Push the plunger back in and then attach the yellow tube inside to top of plunger. Then insert in pee and pull plunger. I guess this will fill yellow tube? Then top goes on? Just guessing.

That is for a blood sample, surely. You don't need a needle for a wee sample and that bottle is for blood.

What a waste of time and money. They should have just given you a clean plastic bottle with a nice firm lid.

Don’t! I’ve got a prolapse and am waiting for surgery (3 years of waiting 🙄) i got one of these the last time I was tested and was directed to the surgery bathroom. I had to ask for a kidney bowl thing and gloves but like others have mentioned, I’m not sure how ‘pure’ that makes the sample🙈 I’m 41 and it’s a nightmare so God knows how our older kin cope.

You should also have received a small sterile pot? From the NHS - Urine Collection Instruction Sheet PDF:

You need to sterilse a cup or bowl, pee in it and then use it like a syringe, I had it last week as no wee pots are being distributed anymore.

I have not used that type though...so others will need to help you.

Try unscrewing the the top of the yellow. Not the bit you unscrewed if that makes sense x

Wee into a large jug. Then, if you are also provided with what I get from the surgery, pour a little into a very small jug with a lip. Then pour from that little jug into the specimen tube. The key item is the little jug. Without that, doom awaits for sure.

Yes my last test kit was like that and just came in a small plastic bag with absolutely no instructions. So peed into a pot and syringed it out of there.

Well whatever you do the results will say “you need to be on statins” especially as they have give you a bp kit for a week (?). It’s what they told me 4 years ago with zero medical history as I had been abroad for 2 decades. I refused their statins as I refuse their annual jabs!

I have used those. The instructions are rubbish! Write on the label. Wee into cup. Take small cap off syringe and replace it with the long spout. Dip that into the cup and draw up urine using handle thing.. Take spout off and replace cap. Snap off plunger stick put sple in bag

That yellow lidded thing screws onto the tube then unscrew the lid of the yellow lidded thing. Then put the tube on the nozzle.... I had the same problem!!!

Fortunately no I just pee into a small cup (provided) and tip it into the little tube and screw the top on. Job done. This is above my pay grade. Pharmacist assistance required methinks...x

With all talk about equality why can’t @NHSuk at least provide suitable urine specimen collection jars for women?? It really is so infuriating - most Women cannot pee into a narrow tube/funnel without it splashing on our hands.

Never seen a test kit like that 🤷🏼‍♀️. Your video prompted me to open the bowel cancer screening kit I’ve been sent. I always do it and it looks as I expected. Phew 😉

Pee in to pot, usually first pee in the morning, then use syringe to pull up a sample from pot.

I’m writing this while I’m still in it. Still stressed. Still exhausted. Still after crying. And I’m still working through the night. I need people to understand what this really looks like. The posts you see do not come from some calm, quiet, comfortable life. They are written in the middle of pressure, fatigue, sickness, grief, and responsibility. I take a photo, I write my story, and I post it. Then I keep working. Because I have to. Because my guys need me. Because I cannot give up. Because if I stop, the consequences are real. Every single day, I make the choice to stay here. And yes, sometimes that choice hurts. I am human. I know I could go home. I know there is a beautiful life waiting for me somewhere else. I know what I am missing. I know what rest could look like. I know what peace could feel like. But I stay. I stay because my boys cannot simply go home. I stay because they do not have the freedoms I have as a foreigner under contract. I stay because love is not a feeling here. Love is duty. Love is sacrifice. Love is showing up again and again, even when you are breaking. Right now, I am doing the work of five or six people in this brigade. Not because I have endless strength. Not because I never fall apart. Not because I am some kind of machine. I do it because I care that much. I do it because I am passionate, because I believe in #Ukraine I am a soldier. Not a volunteer. This is not something I step in and out of when it is convenient or I have the energy. This is my duty. 24/7. I save my vacation because when I finally leave for a little while, I do not want a getaway. I do not want a trip. I do not want sightseeing. I do not want Kyiv. I do not want the Carpathians. I want to go home to #Canada. And until the day I can do that, I work. Every post. Every video. Every message. Every fundraiser. I am on duty. Every four to six weeks, I scrape together a few hours to take care of myself and try to remember what normal feels like. But the truth is that I am tired. And some of what I do might look small from the outside. It might look ordinary. It might even look stupid. It is not. Because if I do not do these things, people will die. And yes, they may die anyway. This is war. There are no guarantees here. There are no perfect endings. There is only the fight to give them a better chance, one more chance, any chance at all. YOU give them that fighting chance. And that is why I am asking you, from the deepest and most exhausted part of me, to help. I cannot do this alone. I am one person doing the work of five or six people. But with you, I am not alone. With you, thousands of hands help carry this weight. With you, this burden becomes survivable. With you, these men have more than hope, they have support, action, and a chance to make it through. Please do not scroll past this. Please do not assume someone else will step in. Please do not underestimate how much this matters. #Support93

My precious darlings, Tomorrow I have to do one of the hardest things I have ever done. I have to see one of the two people closest to my heart...twenty years old...dead. This is going to be the hardest thing I have faced since my father died. I am not saying who. I will not. They are one of the two I would protect with my life, and I still will. Their name stays with the four of you who already know, and it stays in my chest. I am sorry to be cryptic. I know that can feel unfinished. Unlike a lot of people, I do not put my whole life out there, and I am not about to start now. I am looking at tomorrow with a very certain kind of dread. My heart has been stable. That is the truth I can give you today. But there is no telling how it is going to react when I walk into that room. Julie will be with me. My surgeon is on call. Keep me close in your thoughts. If anything needs to be said after, my twin will update you. I love her so much. She has been wonderful with me through all of this. Between my heart ripping and this terrible murder, she has been an absolute rock. I do not know how I would have stood without her. She is no doubt, the greatest blessing in my life to date. I'd do anything for that girl. And I love all of you. You precious darlings. You do not even know how much you have been carrying me....your love, your prayers, the way you just stay. There will never be enough thank yous in the world from me to you. Just know that I love each of you, and I hold you close to my heart. Please hold me in yours tomorrow.
