In April of 2023 a Cross was burned in front of a campaign sign for Black Mayoral Candidate Yemi Mobolade, with the word "N*GGER" sprayed on it. The incident generated significant local media coverage with headlines framed as a racist threat from his white opponent. Mobolade won the election. 7 Months later it was revealed to have been A BLACK SUPPORTER, and friend of Monolade's that lit the cross and wrote the slur. Derrick Bernard was sentenced to 3 years and 10 months. Why doesn't the SPLC write about this?
