A multi disciplinary team operationalised intelligence information about cash-in-transit suspects traveling in a Toyota fortuner SUV vehicle from KwaZulu-Natal to Gauteng. The team kept surveillance on the N3 road for the vehicle. Upon attempting to stop it, the vehicle sped off and a chase ensued which resulted in a shootout between the suspects and the police. Three suspects were shot dead and two unlicensed firearms were recovered in the suspects' vehicle. This incident was a continuation of an intelligence operation conducted in Msinga area on 03 July 2025 by law enforcement officers from Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal which resulted in two suspects being fatally wounded and two arrested. This morning at the Pangani–Murang'a Road flyover, another painful reminder of where crime can lead unfolded before our eyes. Two young men, neatly dressed and full of energy, allegedly attempted to snatch a phone before the victim raised the alarm, shouting, "Mwizi! Mwizi!" The suspects were caught by members of the public before police arrived. Tragically, the motorcycle rider died at the scene, while the other suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition. It is heartbreaking to think that someone may leave home telling their family they are going to work, while secretly engaging in criminal activities. No phone—whether an iPhone or a Samsung—is worth risking your life, your future, or another person's safety. A motorcycle itself is a valuable investment, but a human life is priceless. As a bodaboda rider, I want to make it clear that the vast majority of riders earn an honest living. We do not want criminals hiding behind our industry and damaging the reputation of hardworking riders. That is why we worked with security officers to ensure the situation was handed over to the authorities. To my fellow bodaboda riders: be careful who you lend your motorcycle to. You may trust a friend, but you may not know everything they do outside your presence. Protect your livelihood, protect your name, and protect our industry. Let's continue working together with law enforcement to make Nairobi safer. Last night at around 11:30pm our officers spotted a group of males in the city centre, who were all wearing balaclavas and dark clothing, riding e-bikes and doing wheelies along the road. They all tried to evade us, but unlucky for them, we carried out an effective tactical response and caught them all quickly after. One rider was caught and arrested on Renshaw Street, which you can see in this video, and a second rider, and his passenger were arrested near Rodney Street. A knife was found at the scene and one of the males was in possession of £5,000. A subsequent search of a property linked to one of the suspects led to the discovery of an additional £3,000 in cash as well as cannabis. This work is all part of Operation Gears, which is our ongoing commitment to tackling dangerous, illegal and anti-social vehicle use across the region, making communities safer for residents, businesses and road users. A tragic incident has occurred where a dispatch rider was involved in an accident on the Haatso-Atomic stretch when a car collided with him. The impact caused the rider to fall and become trapped beneath a Honda Accord car, along with his motorcycle, where he was dragged for quite a distance Tragically, the car caught fire, making it impossible to rescue him in time. The Accord driver and his family managed to escape the vehicle safely, but the dispatch rider lost his life in the accident. The driver who hit the rider fled the scene, leaving the tragic situation unresolved.
