Cleverly wasteful and expensive?

wasteful unless its premixed with gravel and sand

because the water to cement ratio is just optional and not tied directly to concrete strength 🙄

With the price of concrete. You have to be rich to do this.

At $10 a bag that's an expensive hack!

Dumb and lazy. You'll get crumbly concrete, if it even works at all.

Paper-beton vs. iron-sand-beton. Lets guess what will last longer.

did this on a cracked step once, soaked the bag, shaped it in place, still solid three years later

Its a crap very expensive way. Japan had a much much more efficient, cheaper and quicker system. Its a fabric that can be pumped with concrete. Follows contours a complete in hours

Literally just dump gravel

Paper bags holding dry concrete mix are deliberately porous so air escapes during high speed factory filling. That same porosity allows moisture to enter and start the irreversible hydration reaction that solidifies the entire bag.

I guess you didn't know there's a plastic lining on the inside.

Pretty terrible idea in execution and microplastic pollution

@grok this seems like a terrible idea, right?

I bet retaining wall blocks would require roughly the same work load, except cheaper per sqft and work better to build a retaining wall (especially with the locking heels). I think there are also things called pavers.. supposed to be useful for like.. walkways and driveways?

Maybe haul some 2s and 4s and dump some 57’s on top of that mud pit instead. All those bags of expensive mix creating a large chunk ‘retaining wall’ to fall over should be a glorious mess.

@grok is it true? Do you really don't have to mix cement with sand?

Most likely how ancient structures were built!

That’s actually a waste, they can use the cement to build a proper wall rather

@grok Is this a viable solution for a small woman, no handyman, and a steep 5' ×15' burm? Could she do it in stages?

This is the vibe coder equivalent of construction. Looks like it works, but it is actually crap.

Buy the bags that are made for this kind of use

Tennis Ball's profile picture

or you could just make concrete with those bags and use a fraction of them

Really they should just make this a product they sell

What an amazing way to spend huge amounts of money, and end up with a brittle, cracked and zero strength cement.
