A cold and wintry start with outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow, easing off through the day from the south, but staying cold and mostly grey. Met Office yellow warning for snow and ice remains in force until midday. Here is Calum, with the latest on the wintry weather front.

New yellow Met Office Snow and Ice warning valid from 5pm today until 10am tomorrow. Wintry showers will give fresh falls of snow in some places. A few cm above 200 metres (650ft). Temporary accumulations possible on low ground. Some travel disruption likely.

Snow and ice are set to cause further problems across the country with new weather warnings in place. Scotland could have frequent snow showers and hail. There is a yellow weather warning for snow in parts of South West England.

In this update we look at the short-fuse forecast models of ice accretion and snowfall. North of OKC through the Ozarks and along the Ohio River Valley could see 1-2 FEET of snow. A band of sleet to the south of that likely through OKC Metro and pure freezing rain southern OK/North Texas into western TN and also the Carolina Piedmont. #snow #ice #winterstorm
