A concerned individual has uncovered a small scale illegal mining operation, allegedly sanctioned by a local chief in a community at Tarkwa. The operation which was reportedly started about a month ago has left some levels of devastation in the community, posing a significant threat to structures and individuals.

The campaign which forms a larger part of renewed efforts in redefining ‘zongos’ has targeted individuals known in the local communities as drug peddlers and suppliers of substances, which have left majority of the youth in addiction. The latest of the group’s operation has resulted in the confiscation of a large consignment of opioids and a pump action rifle from two suspects, who were handed over to the police.
