If a DVC, one of the highest-ranking officials in the university, has to teach, the least a "fresher" can do is show up on time! This isn't secondary school; it's a university that emphasizes students must be "found worthy in character and learning". The DVC was enforcing a necessary culture of discipline and respect for the academic environment that often gets diluted in first-year classes. The student should have taken the warning, not caused a scene!

For uk here raising your hands on your student even as little as touching without consent is grounds for arrest. If the student is late the highest you can do is not let them sign the attendance or you ask reasons why they were late. Nigerians are just power drunk that’s all.
