September 14, 2026 (Brickell, Miami): A crane collapsed near Southeast 12th Street and Brickell Bay Drive, crashing onto a street and a vehicle that caught fire. Four people were hospitalized. April 5, 2024 (Fort Lauderdale): A portion of a crane fell onto the Southeast 3rd Avenue bridge over the New River, crushing a vehicle. Construction worker Jorge De La Torre (27) was killed, and two others were hospitalized. August 2023 (Coconut Grove, Miami): A crane collapse at the Mercy Hospital campus resulted in one death and four injuries. March 25, 2008 (Miami): Parts of a crane dislodged and crashed through the roof of a two-story structure on Bayshore Drive, killing two workers and injuring four others.

NEW: Man seen swinging from the edge of a construction crane in downtown Austin, Texas. Dozens of people gathered to watch the individual swing back and forth and police were eventually called. According to Fox 7 Austin, when police arrived, the man was “repelling from the end of the crane on top of the building.” They called for an evacuation of the area before the man made his way to the crane’s ladder and entered the building. Bengaluru Police and Fire & Emergency Services quickly responded to the scene. The rescue team arranged another crane and safely brought him down. After the rescue, the police detained the individual and proceeded with the necessary legal action.
