Thousands of new units are already on the way for teachers, first responders, veterans, nurses, seniors, service workers, and more. We’re grateful to all of our federal workers who continue to show up and serve our communities. We all want to be able to walk down our high streets without fear. No threats, no stripped shelves, no shop workers pinned against walls. What we want and need is effective policing on our high streets and an increased law enforcement presence. Antisocial behaviour, of which shoplifting is a critical component, is arguably one the most dangerous element on our streets. If we lose control of that, gangs and drug dealers take over. Shoplifting not only negatively impacts businesses by causing losses but also creates a hostile environment for shop workers, potentially leading to violence. Tackling shoplifting should be a priority.
