Jacob Tierney discusses his process for writing Heated Rivalry and outlining season two: "The book [Heated Rivalry] is in five parts and very quickly I was like, part one, episode one. Part two, episode two. It was very clear to me. …So in this case, I actually did not outline. Because I was just using these parts of this book, and I knew these books so well at this point. Something that I did, and that I'm trying to do again now when I'm writing the new season, is I'm trying to use—Because there's a dreaminess to this show, I try to use my memory as a guide. I'm like, what do I remember? And then I try to give primacy to the stuff that I remember and that has stuck in my brain all these years with this story. So I’m like, oh I have to do that! And that's a nice way for me to kind of center things. Where if I have to do that, then it means maybe I don't have to do this, and it maybe means I want to combine or collapse different things. Because if this is going to take up—If one incident that I'm thinking of is going to take up the space in an episode that I think of as the heart, …then you don't need to do a first version of it in the same way, you know? Little things like that. That being said, for this season because I'm working with a co-writer as well, we have outlined everything. And every time, I do approach outlining like a teenager, where I'm like, [modulates voice] I don't want to. But then when I do it, I'm always like, why don't I always do this? I don't really have a ton to say on it. Actually, I do have a ton to say. I haven't decided exactly what I want to say publicly yet. “I do have some thoughts. I just -- I don't really feel like now is the time or place for me to comment. We're in the middle of a tournament, and I'm focused on what I need to do. I need to go out tomorrow and shoot a low round. I'm not really going to expand on it too much.” He was then asked if he will speak publicly in a few weeks: “I don't know. It's just a tough situation, I think. Like I said, I have a decent amount of thoughts, but probably nothing that I'm concerned with right now. “Yeah, just feel like it's not a road I want to go down today. Many writers will tell you to "write for yourself." Mitch Albom has sold over 40 million books, and he writes 98% for readers, not himself: "I don't worry about what interests me per se. Like if you ask me what's a passion of mine — I like 50s doo-wop rock and roll. I listen to it almost every day. I'm not writing a book about doo-wop music because I don't really see a great way to make that interesting to a large number of readers. I think about things that people want to explore in themselves. And then I say, okay, are these things that I have something to say about, or I have some knowledge about, or I'm curious about myself? And when those overlap, when one that I'm curious about overlaps with something that I think readers will be curious about, that makes the list. What doesn't make the list is just because I'm interested in it. It's a business. You're putting out books and you're trying to get people to read them, and it takes you a year or two of your life to do it."

Q : something you must definitely do but still haven't #CHANYEOL : In the past, honestly.. now that i think about it, there’s nothing that comes to mind right away when it comes to something i must do but haven't. Back in the days, i used to have a lot of greed, like wanting to make a certain kind of album and do things a certain way. I used to think about these alot. But these days, i’m just living with gratitude day by day. It’s not that i don’t have goals or anything, but i'm really just grateful for what i am given. I think i'm living with a "let's work hard and enjoy" mindset.
