I finished the cardboard spinner earlier this year but I'm still hoping to get to a wooden and then 3D printed version of the Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move aimer. Music credit is the amazing cover of Let's Go to Pao Pao Island! by Banjo Guy Ollie.

What a great way to play Puzzle Bobble! If you ever decide to sell them, I’d love to feature it on my YouTube channel!

Thanks! I'll likely make the plans available for a laser cut wooden version freely available but if I get as far as a something sellable I'll let you know.

Thank you, I appreciate it Pardner!

😁

I'm hoping to do a laser cut wooden version of the aiming mechanism that should be fairly easy to assemble so watch this space.

What a useless peripheral, really, who would get one? I would get 20 👀

😂

So amazing. The creativity and details. Everything about it just blows me away.

I appreciate that coming from someone who is very creative and has an eye for detail - thanks!

@cliffsrepaircor Is that using the optical sensor to sense the crank position?

@cliffsrepaircor This is using an old mouse scroll wheel that's patched into a hacked wireless mouse (along with the left mouse button). This one's optical:😁

@JonasMcNali

Amazing 🤩

😁

This is beautiful!

😁

THIS IS AWESOMEEEEEEEEE

Cheers!

That's neat

Cheers!😁

Wait that's really cool! If it works with 2, I want one :D

It does work with 2 but you could always try this one instead:

This thing is so sick and makes me happy every time I see it

Thanks!😁

So this supports analog movement ?

Kind of. It's mapping scroll wheel ticks to the joystick movement expected by the game. If you crank slowly you can step the aimer through every angle present in the animation but spinning faster still gives you smooth movement.

@Aguilovers

Heeeey, this is really cool. Always wanted a controller like this for the game in arcades.

Cheers! It is fun to play this way. This one's only working with MAME but Matt Greer has hacked the Neo Geo ROMs to work with custom spinner hardware:

Sweet! You should do another video with Puzzle de Pon! for extra nerd points hah. I don't even know if anyone in the west remembers that one.

I don't recall seeing it but cool that it was licensed by Taito. I did get this control setup working with Bubbits - a nice modern bubble shooter:

Sir, this is legendary?!?!

😁

nintendo lawsuit is already on its way... :D super cool tho :3

😂 Thanks!

Nice work man! That’s fun engineering

Thanks! The cardboard has a certain charm to it and hopefully a stepping stone to version 2.0.

Man THIS IS SO FUCKING RAD

Cheers!

I am figuratively bouncing off of the walls in happiness of how much I need this for this game specifically! This is so cute!

Would love to play it that way😃

It's a very intuitive way to play it and a lot of fun.

Oh yes. I hope I can play Puzzle Bubble that way someday.😃

Using an Arduino Pro Micro, instead of a mouse? It would fit inside the box! Also, I’d recommend an arcade button instead of the 2-piece assembly.

Great suggestions, thanks. For this one I already had the modded mouse and wanted a button that was closer to the one in the game's tutorial.

Genius 👏 👏👏

Cheers!
