Reminds me of that video by Nomad's Animal Encounter out of Oklahoma last April, where they were calling their dogs to come back inside during a tornado warning and a deer came with them. And they let the deer stay.

Things that make you go, hmmm…. “Isn't it crazy that whenever you're out deer hunting, the government owns all the deers, but when one hits and totals your car, nobody owns them?” I find it interesting that in the United States wild animals including deer are classified as not being owned by the government. Under the public trust doctrine, wildlife is a shared public resource Yet they make you buy a deer license and share no liability when they cause vehicle crashes

California approved removing the mule deer population on Santa Catalina Island. The reason: they damage native plants and increase fire risk. The LA County Fire Chief publicly disputed the fire claim. He warned the removal could increase fuel loads. They approved it anyway. This is the same state that restricted water across California to protect the delta smelt. Native fish: protected. Non-native deer: eradicated. Water restricted for a fish most people will never see. Entire deer population removed over vegetation that becomes fuel.
