HERE’S THE REAL STORY: During the October 25 operation, Border Patrol agents were surrounded and boxed in by a group of agitators. Federal law enforcement issued multiple lawful commands and verbal warnings, all of which were ignored. While trying to safely clear the area, a grey sedan sped down the road and boxed in Border Patrol. Border Patrol gave repeated warnings to the driver to back his car up which he refused. After spewing profanities at law enforcement, he proceeded to charge out of his car toward law enforcement and resisted arrest. During the arrest another US citizen assaulted the arresting agent, striking him in the head. Both were arrested. The operation resulted in the arrest of a criminal illegal alien from Mexico who has previously been arrested for assault. Secretary Noem’s message to the rioters is clear: you will not stop us or slow us down. DHS and our federal law enforcement partners will continue to enforce the law.

The facts of what happened in Minneapolis on Jan 7 matter: at 10:25 AM CT the individual in question was using her vehicle to block-in law enforcement officers and obstruct lawful operations—a felony. Throughout the course of the morning, the individual and her partner had been stalking, harassing and impeding law enforcement. ICE law enforcement approached the individual in question and gave repeated lawful commands to stop obstructing operations and then ordered her out of her vehicle for arrest. She refused to comply. She then proceeded to weaponize her vehicle, a deadly weapon, and hit a federal law enforcement officer. The ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement, and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. Peaceful protest is a sacred First Amendment right. This was not that. If you obstruct law enforcement operations, ignore lawful commands, and use a deadly weapon to kill or cause bodily harm to a federal law enforcement office there are dangerous, and in this case deadly, consequences. This was entirely preventable.

The deadly incident that took place in Minnesota yesterday occurred as a result of a larger, sinister left-wing movement that’s spread across our country where our brave men and women of federal law enforcement are under organized attack. Right now, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers are facing a 1,200% increase in assaults, a 3200% increase in vehicle rammings, and an 8,000% increase in death threats. ICE agents are faithfully enforcing federal law to protect the safety of the American people by removing criminal illegal aliens from our country – which is exactly what nearly 80 million Americans voted for. Radicals in the Democrat Party are furious over this. They don’t want our border secured or criminal illegal aliens removed. As a result, Democrats are impeding immigration enforcement operations every single day – creating extremely heightened and dangerous circumstances that make it nearly impossible for the men and women in law enforcement to simply do their jobs.
