🇹🇷 THREE DRONE INCIDENTS IN FIVE DAYS TEST TURKEY'S AIRSPACE AS BLACK SEA TENSIONS RISE Turkey recorded three separate UAV incidents between December 15-20, raising questions about Russian drone activity near NATO territory. INCIDENT 1: December 15 - SHOOTDOWN Turkish F-16s scrambled after detecting an unidentified aerial track approaching from the Black Sea. The UAV was assessed as "out of control" and destroyed outside populated areas. Debris fragmented on impact, complicating identification. No attribution announced. INCIDENT 2: December 19 - ORLAN-10 FOUND Residents in Kocaeli province discovered a damaged UAV in an agricultural field near İzmit. Initial assessment identified it as a Russian-origin Orlan-10 reconnaissance drone. Photos showed a red star marking. The Orlan-10 is widely documented in the Ukraine war for surveillance missions. Authorities have not explained how it reached northwestern Turkey. INCIDENT 3: December 20 - UNIDENTIFIED CRASH Farmers in Balıkesir province reported another UAV crash in an empty field. After spotting the Ukrainian drone, the Russian FPV operator rams itself where the propeller is and downs the Ukrainian reco drone. Not just it, the Russian drone could be seen safe and it was asked to RTH.

Russia is increasingly using small interceptor drones to stop Ukrainian kamikaze drones before they reach their targets. In recent footage, Russian mobile firing teams are seen launching "Yolka" interceptor drones against incoming Ukrainian FP-1 drones, with the interceptors reportedly destroying them through direct aerial collisions. The footage also shows Russian soldiers attempting to engage the incoming drones with small-arms fire, but hitting fast-moving targets at high altitude can be extremely difficult. Ukrainian FP-1 drones can also alter their flight paths, making conventional ground fire even less effective. As drone attacks become more common, both Russia and Ukraine are developing low-cost interceptor drones that can engage other drones in the air.
