"A data center is one of the absolute worst economic development tools that you can have in a community. It doesn't create any jobs. It doesn't create any knock-on economic effects, because the only thing that wants to be located next to a data center is a data center."... show more

What? They pay property taxes. Getting a cut in sales tax can be ended sure, but they still pay boat loads

Data centers are literally manned 24/7 with employees and contractors This is objectively false Not to mention the jobs it creates in construction, power grid upgrades, hardware sells, all the service required to maintain it from 3rd party vendors The net tax revenue benefit also Your post is simply false

You say "economic liberties" but I don't think you understand economics or liberty. Or America, for that matter.

this is so stupid... so utterly stupid. shame on you

That is a demonstrable lie. How do I know? My husband worked at one with number of other people.

Pat nailed it.

When "American Economic Liberties" becomes a clever way to hoodwink governors in red states, you know there's something hinky going on. The Date Centers issue is being manipulated. Smooth talkers like these two are peddling a phony bill of goods aimed at frightening voters into becoming fearful activists.

Completely false quote. Unfollowed. I agree with no tax breaks though, in order to unleash the economic benefits of data centers you must sufficiently tax them

After the construction boom, economic impacts are minimal. Most rural communities don’t have tons of unemployed trades workers sitting around waiting for a job… any local subsidies forgone by schools, fire, roads, police, etc inherently flow to out of town construction workers.

Im shocked. The think tank funded by George Soros is fear mongering about data centers.

@ZephyrTeachout They bring in tax revenue! Oh, wait. Tax breaks.🤗

The "knock-on" economic effects ⬇️

You don't have to "ban" anything, you can strike win-win deals. For starters, forcing data centers to generate energy surplus (BYOE). On a macro basis, using data centers as leverage for rewriting the social contract among citizens, govt & corporations.

“It doesn't create any knock-on economic effects” Why do you have ‘Economic’ in your name when you support statements this goofy?

Foolish - it generates taxes and support services and can be used to sustain jobs all over the globe !

Economic liberties? Oh, you mean commies for the death of capitalism.... Got it..

Why do people who know nothing about data centers continually run their mouth? If you want to talk about tax write offs, let’s start with the child tax credits which puts an undue burden on those without kids?

@TaraDBennett I’m hopeful more of its destructive ability. I believe it will destroy deep state by helping to set free the truth about them.

@MorePerfectUS This person should be laughed off the air. How absurd. He seems to have forgotten about the internet.

Great for taxes and have a few jobs with no traffic.

Disagree with "no knock on effects." The data center I'm building right now is bringing new substation capacity and water infrastructure the town needed anyway. The real problem is when developers treat that infrastructure as a bargaining chip instead of just building it.

What the fuck how is that at all liberty? Change your name.

NO!!! Teachers in Richland Parish, received large year-end bonuses—up to about $50,900–$50,935 for vested/certified teachers with sufficient experience—primarily from a surge in local sales tax revenue tied to construction of Meta’s massive Hyperion AI data center.

Go away data center!

@IfindRetards got one for you

Fight back While we still can Humanity's Rebellion Proceeds go to the legal fees of the rebels

This is just a bald faced lie.

Construction jobs and tax revenue exist but don't last. The real cost is the incentives governments hand over. What development tool delivers long-term?

WRONG! @MorePerfectUS Teachers in Richland Parish, Louisiana received big bonuses—up to about $50,900–$50,935 for vested/certified teachers with sufficient experience from a surge in local sales tax revenue tied to construction of Meta’s massive Hyperion AI data center.

@MorePerfectUS How much money and support does this site receive from the PRC? You guys are pathetic liars and agents of communism.

I think banning tax breaks can be a good idea, because the taxes themselves are the most evident benefit of having a new high-value business in an area. Pays taxes, doesnt generate much new traffic. Hopefully other stipulations around net electricity supply improvements, too

@MorePerfectUS My God. Why are you peddling this false propaganda?

They're freaking demon eggs.

What utter shite lol
