Highly dangerous fish have appeared in the Mediterranean Sea — they can bite through a tin can and even sever a finger In addition to powerful jaws, the bodies of silver-cheeked pufferfish contain the deadly toxin tetrodotoxin, which can cause paralysis and respiratory failure. The species has migrated from the tropics and is now spreading across the Mediterranean: they have been spotted near the coasts of Italy, Spain, and Greece. In Cyprus and Greece, a bounty has even been introduced for catching them — €5.3 per kg.
