In the film, Trejo calls from a payphone and claims he couldn’t shake the LAPD’s tail. But the deleted scene reveals that call was made under duress: Waingro and Van Zant’s men had already broken into his home and kidnapped his wife. The scene shows Trejo returning home to find them waiting. It also reveals that Hugh Benny, played by Henry Rollins, was the one who tipped off the LAPD about the robbery.
