Schools used to teach kids how to do job interviews and how to have work etiquette. Apparently they don't do that anymore.

I've heard of parents going to their kids interview with them but never a partner. Both are crazy situations...

I've run into that when hiring. I've sent the parent/other out of the room. If they got up to consult with them, I'd end the interview there. Haven't had to, but haven't hired any of them, either.

That's when you stop them from leaving and indicate that if they leave, they are not ready to become a teacher as it requires an independent personality. Ask them, do you want to teach or do you want to have your boyfriend teach?

You should have been clear to her, and not said “we’ll be in touch”. No you won’t, she failed her interview and you should have simply said that.

I’ve waited in the car for a friend before, to bolster their courage and let them tell me about how it went afterward, but I wouldn’t dream of going in with them!

Lead teaching roles pull one of the youngest applicant pools in the sector, and a lot of those candidates are sitting for a real interview for the first time with zero coaching. Districts that run a short expectations call beforehand see noticeably less of this.
