Making wins more valuable was the only change needed

All they needed was a couple dozen extra points to the winner and maybe a Pole bonus and boom

Had the most wins of any driver in 99 and wasn’t even close, because he had 7 dnfs and Jarrett only finished outside of the top 10 5 times. That should matter, and it meant more when it did.

When you let marketing executives control the sport, the end result is the current points format

The only thing any racing fan wants is to see the best driver win, the season long format did that, the playoffs don’t

Champions aren’t memorable anymore
