While walking through a Walmart parking lot in Wainwright with my friend who moved here from Ontario, a man walked up, recognized me, and started talking about why he supports Alberta independence. Totally random. Totally unscripted. And honestly, that’s what made it powerful. Wainwright is a military town, so naturally the conversation turned toward soldiers, veterans, and what independence would mean for them. He said a lot of soldiers support independence, but many are worried about their jobs because there is still uncertainty about what transition would look like. That concern is real, and it deserves to be taken seriously. But here’s what we believe: Albertans have deep respect for our veterans. We are ashamed of how Canada has treated too many of them. A country that tells veterans they can access MAID instead of making sure they receive the care, honour, and support they deserve has lost something very important. An independent Alberta would have the chance to build something better. A proud military. A serious defence culture. A country that honours its veterans, protects its people, and treats service as something worthy of respect. Veterans and soldiers who support Alberta independence should not feel abandoned by this movement. They should know that many of us see them as essential to the country we are trying to build. There is literally a Ministry of War Veterans Affairs. That means it’s a government obligation, not a personal side project for any one leader. So the real question is: 👉 Is this a systemic government failure? 👉 Or are we now simplifying accountability to one person depending on the political moment? I recorded this video because my roommate is a Marine Corps veteran who was trying to get schooling to become a truck driver since President Donald J. Trump said his administration would help veterans with the schooling to get a CDL. Come to find out this is only for veterans who served since 9/11 or later making my roommate ineligible since he got out in 87. After calling around we were told he would be eligible for chapter 31 to help him but we had to call compensation and pension department. So we call the compensation and pension department but it was the wrong one. We eventually got a hold of someone who helped walk us though the application process. Once we were done he said it would be 5-7 business days until he heard something. Well it's been 3 weeks and still nothing. So we called a 1 800 number who gave us this local Tampa number so we call it. When we called we were unable to speak to a human we were given email and a number to text and the person you're suppose to be able to talk to their voice mail box is FULL. (BTW it's still full as of this morning) I'm beyond pissed this is how our veterans are treated because they put their life on the line for this country only to be ignored when they need HELP to work. My roommate owns a small tree service and the phones have stopped ringing since the war started. He got duped into paying $80k for a shitty 2024 Ford F250 diesel truck that cost him $1,500 a month. Since our phones have stopped ringing we're going to food pantrys just to be able to eat. This man has served his country and is a hard worker he should NOT be struggling to get help to go to school or find a job. How much do these people get paid only to ignore our veterans? I know he's not the only one having problems so this is something that needs to be addressed because our veterans should come FIRST. Our veterans have put their life on the line for this country and would do it again in a heartbeat and this is how they are treated? It's bullshit! You don't have to listen to the full thing just the last 15 seconds I only recorded most of it so people knew this was real. Our veterans administration needs a full work over. I'm also wondering why are the people that work at the VA not veterans or someone who's actually in the military? They literally have " doctors " with the last name Patel who can barely speak English.

I recorded this video because my roommate is a Marine Corps veteran who was trying to get schooling to become a truck driver since President Donald J. Trump said his administration would help veterans with the schooling to get a CDL. Come to find out this is only for veterans who served since 9/11 or later making my roommate ineligible since he got out in 87. After calling around we were told he would be eligible for chapter 31 to help him but we had to call compensation and pension department. So we call the compensation and pension department but it was the wrong one. We eventually got a hold of someone who helped walk us though the application process. Once we were done he said it would be 5-7 business days until he heard something. Well it's been 3 weeks and still nothing. So we called a 1 800 number who gave us this local Tampa number so we call it. When we called we were unable to speak to a human we were given email and a number to text and the person you're suppose to be able to talk to their voice mail box is FULL. (BTW it's still full as of this morning) I'm beyond pissed this is how our veterans are treated because they put their life on the line for this country only to be ignored when they need HELP to work. My roommate owns a small tree service and the phones have stopped ringing since the war started. He got duped into paying $80k for a shitty 2024 Ford F250 diesel truck that cost him $1,500 a month. Since our phones have stopped ringing we're going to food pantrys just to be able to eat. This man has served his country and is a hard worker he should NOT be struggling to get help to go to school or find a job. How much do these people get paid only to ignore our veterans? My roommate could do like some other young veterans I've met who are collecting 100% disability while slinging logs and dragging brush for us to collect cash but he's an honest man who refuses to lie and abuse the system. There’s a lot that Andrew Hastie and I disagree on. But calling a decorated veteran, who repeatedly risked his life for his country, a coward? That’s just not on. Veterans don’t make the decisions about whether our country goes to war. They put on a uniform and put themselves in harm’s way, and they do it for us. They deserve our respect, and our enduring gratitude. Pauline Hanson has disgraced herself, and she should apologise.
