1. Hydrodynamics Water flows from an area with higher potential energy toward an area with lower potential energy. When the flow enters an increasingly narrow passage, the cross,sectional area of the flow decreases, causing the water velocity to tend to increase. 2. Channel Constriction Effect In the part of the video where the water passes through a narrow gap, the current becomes faster and more turbulent. This is a consequence of changes in the geometry of the channel. As water flows over an uneven surface, it experiences friction, flow separation, and the formation of vortices. As a result, the surface of the water appears wavy and foamy. 3. Turbulence When the water velocity becomes sufficiently high and the flow passes through a complex or irregular surface, the flow is no longer entirely laminar but becomes turbulent. 4. White Foam on the Water The parts of the water that appear white do not mean that the entire body of water has actually turned white. Rather, the white appearance is usually caused by a mixture of water, air, and bubbles generated by turbulence. The air bubbles cause light to undergo multiple scattering, making the water appear white. 5. Interaction Between Water and Vegetation/Rocks The vegetation visible around the flow acts as a form of hydraulic resistance. Roots, stems, rocks, and the surrounding soil surface can slow down portions of the flow while simultaneously directing the water along particular pathways.
