A father-son duo started a CD-Rom game in 2000 making Roman military strategy games. In 2013, they created Command: Modern Operation, a wargame simulator with battles from WWII to present day. The maps, databases and war scenarios were so good that US Air Force, the Pentagon and Britain’s strategic... command reached out. Per WSJ, Gamemaker Slitherine Software has since created a special version of Command that the is blocked off from consumer market and can handle classified data. Wargaming goes back to the Prussian Army in the 1800s. Prior to Command, the government would use tabletop maps and dice games (very souped up versions of Risk and Stratego).
