A flight over Pluto by New Horizons spacecraft

New Horizons provided unprecedented views of three Kuiper Belt objects, Pluto, Charon, and 2014 MU69.

This video was created from still images taken during New Horizon’s flyby of Pluto.

Note: New Horizons, a NASA space probe launched in 2006, explored Pluto in 2015, revealing its icy surface, atmosphere, and moons. It then flew by Arrokoth in 2019, the farthest object visited by a spacecraft. Powered by a nuclear generator, it continues studying the Kuiper Belt, sending data back to Earth. The mission, led by Alan Stern, cost $650 million and will operate until 2028 or 2029, potentially reaching interstellar space.

Pluto flyby still one of space’s finest moments

Curious why planets come out so almost perfectly round since space is vacuum so no real opportunity for friction over time. Any thoughts?

BUT we’re not able to get a clear picture of the 3I/Atlas—right!?!

This flyover footage, part of NASA's New Frontiers program, not only provided unprecedented close-up views of Pluto but also targeted the spacecraft towards the Kuiper Belt object 2014 MU69, which it encountered on New Year's Day 2019, expanding our understanding of the outer solar system.

Amazing...and yes Pluto is a planet.

Pluto is most good-looking planet

That does not look real

The details are surreal

Pluto looks like a sad, lonely, forgotten scoop of Neapolitan ice cream

Totally surreal. Makes me think of some-kind of dystopian counter-universe where mankind is still in its infancy living in caves. 🔥 is captured from ⚡️ Food is scarce but violent so man hunts in packs. Beware of giant 🕷

It doesn’t look like gas to me. Looks pretty solid….. like a planet.

@Rub_myfeet question without notice, have you been to Pluto 😳😳👽😀🤔🤔🤔🤪

wow

Wonderful

Super

Man, that was launch in 06, it took almost 20 years for us to get out of our own system. Crazy. When it comes to space exploration, we are as primitive as the Vikings exploring the Atlantic.

Make Pluto a planet again!

Nice video of a planet flyby. That's right...I said PLANET. I got you Pluto...you will always be a planet to me.

@ShermanPollock

Still my favorite planet.

@HumbleAnthem Hang on a second, the internet told me this didn't qualify as a planet because it was nothing but gas.

😍😍😍

• It looks rather sticky. •

How so light?

**** I WAS WONDERING HOW MY SLIMM SPEAKERS ARE SOOOOOO DAMMMM LOUD & TINY ....LIKE PLUTO*!!!! (((((( LOUD AS PLANET PIEZO))))

No question re its planetoid nature, ha

Looks amazing. Maybe a cruise there one day.

What ? 🤯🤯🤯
