The Venus flytrap, scientifically known as *Dionaea muscipula*, is a fascinating carnivorous plant native to subtropical wetlands on the East Coast of the United States. This plant is renowned for its unique trapping mechanism: its leaves are hinged and lined with tiny, stiff hairs, or cilia, that interlock when the trap closes. When an insect or spider touches these hairs, the trap snaps shut in less than a second, capturing the prey. The Venus flytrap doesn't just close on any touch; it requires at least two stimulations within a short period to ensure it's not wasting energy on non-prey items like falling leaves. Once closed, the trap seals tightly, and enzymes begin to digest the prey, providing the plant with essential nutrients like nitrogen, which are scarce in its natural habitat. This plant's dramatic method of feeding has made it a popular subject in botany and a common houseplant among enthusiasts, though it requires specific care to thrive outside its natural environment.

My babies having some issues. ヽ(*´^`)ノ Poor Petey won't eat anything! Some new heads are growing in, however. I hope they have a better appetite. Good thing his brother Patooie is doing well.

I don’t care if you grow from the soil or whatnot, if you have this kind of power, you should be be classified as a plant no more

What happens if there aren't any bugs around? Do you have to feed it stuff to keep it alive?
