The real question is why people born and raised here, some 2nd, 3rd or 4th generation, who share the language, culture and national identity somehow don’t belong because of their ancestry. Nationality is a social construct, not a genetic classification. Genetic ancestry and population structure are real, but they are not synonymous with national identity. Repeating obvious statements about fish & chips doesn’t answer the argument. People like Rishi Sunak are British, people that are have obtained citizenship via naturalisation are British citizens. Even in Japan people can get citizenship by naturalisation.
