This tweet is for The Guardian and Shaad D'Souza: If you bothered to watch Barbie until the end credits you would have discovered that the film, which you claim has ‘almost no CGI or VFX’ has a credit list of 207 VFX artists and 5 VFX companies. Please also note that 3 out of the 5 companies have missing credits, so this number is a lot bigger. Just like Oppenheimer and Mission Impossible, these films have hundreds of invisible VFX and #CGI. The next time you make such a poor article like the one called ‘‘It’s exactly as they’d have done it in the 1910s’: how Barbenheimer is leading the anti-CGI backlash’, please reach out to a VFX supervisor for comment before publishing. Everything about this scene is crazy. What kind of interrogation room is this? The lighting is insane. The fact that there are half a dozen cops here. There are countless different camera setups and endless camera push-ins. These types of scenes can easily look like a run-of-the-mill episode in Law and Order, but in the hands of a capable director, it’s something else entirely. Paul Verhoeven is an incredible director.
