A few students are upset with the announcer at their college graduation ceremony. The announcer was given a list of the names of the graduates in bold and included the phonetic spelling as well. When she started reading the names, she ignored the names and only read off the phonetic pronunciations too. Needless to say even a basic name sounded foreign and elaborate to her. For many people this is a once in a lifetime thing and she ruined it for them. How would the school make this up to them?

This video is another example of lack of impulse control. The reason I’m bringing this up is because it is harmful to black Americans and society as a whole. Lack of impulse control results in black Americans making poor decisions. These poor decisions have other races of people looking at black Americans with a side eye. These poor decisions also in many cases result in black Americans losings, jobs, relationships, or their freedoms. And then many black Americans complain about the system without ever seriously looking at any of this. Impulse Control → Accountability Impulse control is the ability to pause, reflect, and choose actions intentionally rather than reacting instinctively. Accountability is taking ownership of those actions and their consequences. We need more impulse control and accountability.
