A gray wolf walked into Sequoia National Park this spring for the first time in over a CENTURY. Her name is BEY03F. This is a big deal, wolves haven’t set foot here in a hundred years, and she just did it on her own. 🐺 She’s three years old,...

@CAWolfCenter Wolves are a crucial part of our ecosystem. This is sickening. Any organizations suing to stop this? Or a petition or donation? When wolves are added back to areas, they help nature to rebound & flourish. Can’t they be live caught & released in National Parks if warranted?

@CAWolfCenter The rancher initiating this, was on PUBLIC lands with his defenseless, 40 # fluffy dog, bred ONLY to nip & chase other animals, & got his dog killed through sheer incompetence. Then played the victim, manipulated the GOP into now allowing the killing of an endangered species.

Some beautiful footage from the dam of a remote beaver pond in early spring this year. You can hear the sounds of spring all around this pond, which we call “Capsaicin Pond” (story behind that below). But this is more than just pretty footage...the footage highlights an interesting dynamic in the wolf packs in this area...because all the wolves in the video belong to different packs but they all have a history with one another. Notably, this pond is in an area of overlap between the Half-Moon and Lightfoot Pack territories. The first wolf in the video is the new breeding male of the Half-Moon Pack (now dubbed Wolf Y15C after we collared him this spring). He and his mate kicked out Wolf V094, the longstanding breeding male of the Half-Moon Pack, in Fall 2024. And Wolf V094 just so happens to be the 2nd wolf in this video, and Wolf Y15C’s mate happens to be V094’s daughter. Small world! Wolf V094 was a lone wolf at the time this video was taken but he joined the Peatlands Pack later this past summer. But you can tell he is getting to be an old fellow. And then the last wolf on camera is the breeding female of the Lightfoot Pack (Wolf B3S). She recently became the breeding female of the Lightfoot Pack after kicking out her mother in Fall 2024. And as it turns out, her mate is the son of Wolf V094. For a few months last winter, V094 actually traveled around with this female and his son in the Lightfoot territory but then for whatever reason, moved on. Now, as for the name, let’s just say someone on our crew was out doing fieldwork near this pond a few years ago and had a little issue with their bear spray...it was a long walk out for them with some blurry eyes that were feeling the burn...

For almost 2 years now, this lone wolf has hobbled around the Voyageurs area on 3 legs. The wolf’s front left foot is permanently injured/disabled for some unknown reason. We shared a post about this wolf in 2023 and since the wolf is still around, figured we would just share an update with some footage we captured of this wolf over the past year. When wolves lose the function of a back leg, they can still move around fairly quickly because most of a wolf’s power and balance comes from their front legs where most of their bulk and muscle is. We have seen many wolves on trail cameras over the year that are limping and not putting weight on a back leg that are still moving around pretty well. However, losing the function of a front leg is much more debilitating because wolves cannot move quickly without a front leg. You can see that in this video. Nonetheless, wolves are persistent and resourceful. Clearly, this lone wolf has figured out a way to find enough food to live for several years. From what we can tell, the wolf appears to be in decent body condition too. We can only guess how this wolf would find enough food. We suspect it likely does quite a bit of scavenging (e.g., scavenging other wolves’ kills, roadkill deer, beavers that have been trapped for damming up culverts, and any number of human-created food sources). During summer, this wolf could likely catch hiding fawns and beavers, both of which would not require chasing prey down. However, we do struggle to see how this wolf would kill adult deer or older fawns during the rest of the year since it is hard to imagine the wolf chasing them down.

I genuinely cannot understand how someone can watch this story and still stand there, looking at two women, and somehow decide that the wrong one is the victim. On one side, you have a girl (Yıldız) who has been mistreated her entire life. Since the moment she was born, she was treated like a sacrifice for a conflict she was never even part of and later we find out that this conflict never even existed. Her right to study was taken from her. She was pushed into a marriage at a very young age just imagine being six, seven, eight years old, living in fear of being tied to someone you don’t even know. She was treated like a servant in her own home, by the very people she thought were her family. And just when she gets close to the happiness she dreamed of, the man she was engaged to shows up with another wife. She gets mistreated by that wife, by his family, and even (unintentionally) by him, because he was trying to run away from his own feelings, and that only caused her more heartbreak. The whole world was literally against her. She fought through all of that, only to find out in the end that everything she suffered for was based on something that wasn’t even real. Her entire life was built on a lie. That she isn’t even part of that family that she has literally no one in this world. Now on the other side… You have a girl (Melek) who, yes, was taken from her biological mother but she was raised by loving parents. She had everything anyone could wish for: education, freedom, a happy childhood, a healthy environment. She lived her life, fell in love, went out, made choices and no one questioned her, no one controlled her. And then what did she do? She found out that her man was engaged to another woman before marrying her (and even saw him marry her) and instead of holding on to her dignity, she chose to stay, to fight for a man who lied to her, to hold onto a marriage he tried to end multiple times. She used her unborn child to keep him tied to her. She lied constantly, and her excuse was that she was “protecting her marriage” a marriage that was already broken from the moment Serhat removed that ring at the airport in episode one. She tried to hand Yıldız (a woman who had already suffered enough) over to dangerous people. Then she found out the truth about her own birth (that her father ra*ped her mother.)And still no empathy. No moment of humanity toward her own mother. All she cared about was herself. And even though none of this had anything to do with Yıldız, she still found a way to blame it on her. Instead of holding her father accountable, she went and made a deal with him to get rid of Yıldız. She literally made a deal with the devil just to hurt Yıldız one more time. And after all of that… you want me to feel sorry for her? You want me to call her a victim? I honestly cannot believe we are living on the same planet with people who see this and still say, “she’s the victim.” Not morally. Not logically. Not emotionally. There is no world where this makes sense. It’s like watching someone clearly cause harm, and still calling them the victim and actually BELIEVING it. #HalefKöklerinÇağrısı

🚨#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting in Missouri after a foster mother who TRADED A CHILD FOR A MONKEY... ...will spend exactly ZERO DAYS IN PRISON!!!! Yes, you read that right. She shipped a girl off to a stranger's home in Texas in exchange for an EXOTIC MONKEY... ...and a judge handed her 7 YEARS in prison, then suspended EVERY. LAST. DAY. OF. IT!!!! She walked out of that courtroom a FREE WOMAN. Her name is Brenda Deutsch, she's 70 years old. Prosecutors say she fostered more than TWO HUNDRED CHILDREN over the last two decades. Deutsch sent one of her foster girls to a home in Texas, a home she admitted in court she knew NOTHING about. In return, prosecutors say, she got a monkey. She already had at least seven of them. That little girl was then passed from stranger to stranger in Texas. And when someone asked why she wasn't coming back home to Missouri, prosecutors say Deutsch's answer was that she "did not want her back." The warnings were there. There was an abuse hotline call about that house back in 2024. A teacher noticed the girl kept missing school. But the prosecutor revealed that despite those hotline calls, not a SINGLE police report ever reached his office. She was eventually rescued by Child Protective Services. So after all of it, the abuse, the trade, the child nobody "wanted back," here is the price Brenda Deutsch pays: Basically nothing. No prison. Three years of probation and she will never sees the inside of a cell for this if she keeps "out of trouble" That is what a child is worth in this system?!!! Simple probation. A woman entrusted with 200 children who traded a girl traded like livestock with documented abuse, and ignored hotline calls. And the punishment... is that she gets to go home. A 17-year-old girl sat in that courtroom this week and watched the woman who did this to her walk free. Even now, even after ALL of this.... ...the state left the foster license in her hands, THANKFULLY the judge did one good thing and revoked her license on the spot. If THIS is only worth probation, what exactly do you have to do to a child in Missouri to actually go to prison?!!!! Say a prayer for that girl tonight. WE DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS!!!!!!!

FORCED MARRIAGE OF UNDERAGE CHILDREN IN THE UK AND OUR GOVERNMENT TURNS A BLIND EYE!! What the actual F*ck is happening to our country it’s like we are living in some third world hell hole nightmare. This is happening in Britain. Not “over there.” HERE. Shaheen Hashmat was 12 years old when she had to flee her own family home in Scotland. Her two older sisters had already been taken to Pakistan on what they were told was a holiday. Their passports were taken. They were shown photographs of the men they were going to be made to marry the next day. They were teenagers. Shaheen could see the same thing coming for her. So her sisters still young themselves went to the police and social services. A date was set. In the weeks before she left, a 12-year-old girl had to smuggle her few possessions out of a back window, a little at a time, so her parents would not notice. Then she walked out and never went back. She was a child. In Britain. The year after she escaped she tried to take her own life. Cutting ties with the people who raised you is not a clean break. It is losing your name, your history, and the only people who are supposed to protect you. She survived. She spoke out. She won a True Honour award for it. She still lives with the cost. Forced marriage of children is not a rumour and it is not ancient history. Official figures still show cases involving children aged 15 and under and referrals for children even younger. Some of those cases have no “overseas” element at all. They happen here, that’s RIGHT here in Britain! This backward ideology has no place in our country. These beliefs need to be rooted out. Girls are being sacrificed at the altar of a medieval practice that treats a child as property. That is not “culture.” It is abuse. The British government turning a blind eye is not good enough. Laws on paper mean nothing if children are still being promised, taken, and married off while agencies look the other way for fear of causing offence and being labelled racist. Thank God Shaheen got out. A lot of girls do not. It is time we spoke up and were as brave as she has been. Share this. Say her name: Shaheen Hashmat. Listen to her ITV interview. And stop pretending this is someone else’s problem. If a child is at risk and you know about it: Forced Marriage Unit 020 7008 0151 (or 999 if they are in immediate danger).
