Billy Donovan recently said if he was coaching youth attacking closeouts would be #1 skill he’d work Too many young players catch and hold or rely on screen to get advantage. Use 1v1 closeouts every practice to teach attacking and teach your defenders to stay in front of ball

THOUGHTS ON PRACTICE 1. Start practices on a different end of the court now & then. 2. Include a fundamental warmup routine before officially starting practice like form shooting, ball handling, free throws. 3. Have important fundamentals throughout practice daily. Cont ..…

REDUCING TURNOVERS Start practice with a certain amount of 🏀 (say 5-10). Take a 🏀 away for every turnover. When there are no 🏀 left to use, you can do a number of things the remainder of practice, including run 😅 Do this for all drills/SSGs. For example, a bad pass in a layup drill--take a ball. Reduce the number of 🏀 to start as they improve. You can also do this in teams. Each teams starts with 5 🏀 Make it competitive. Team who loses their 5 🏀, loses the competition, and then you can decide next steps. Players/teams who commit less TOs, play more. Every ball has a little more value! Sounds like you are doing a great job already and trying everything you can to get better. I hope this helps if you try it or modify it as needed. Good luck!
