In conditions like those, sympathy or regret doesn't have room. Being on K2 is flirting with death, and chasing a record is just an extra challenge. Don't assume they passed that man only for the record. They were fighting for their own lives while breaking barriers.

This is disingenuous and doesn’t highlight the nature of climbing mountains. It’s literally a life or death scenario. The fact that they stayed behind with the guy is beyond what most people would do because it’s almost impossible to rescue people up there. Everyone who does this know that. Unfortunately not everyone on social media are aware.
