🇯🇵 A fire occurred at Atago Shrine, a 420 year old shrine, in the Chuo Ward of Niigata City on the night of May 5, 2026. The fire broke out around 11:30 PM and took approximately three and a half hours for firefighters to extinguish. Many Japanese netizens believe it may have been caused by a Muslim arsonist. Similar acts of terror have plagued Europe for years as Muslims have been suspected of burning down hundreds of churches throughout the continent.

We pay the highest taxes but the our state government can't even do basic fire prevention and forest management! Wildfires are a natural part of life in California, but they don't have to be this out of control and catastrophic. What we need is proper forest management and I'll make sure that's exactly what we get when I'm governor. ☀️👊

Idaho: Incredible work being done up on the Salmon Challis National Forest. They completed thousands of acres of prescribed fire this last week. You can see the vast amounts of dead standing fuels they are trying to mitigate. “Salmon-Challis National Forest staff successfully implemented 2,200 acres of prescribed fire, 13 miles east of Mackay, Idaho. This prescribed burn is part of the South Lost River Restoration Project. The purpose of this project is to improve forest health stand conditions and wildlife habitat by introducing fire back into a landscape that has missed historic fire return intervals. Missed fire intervals have led to declining forest stand health resulting from high tree densities and tight closed canopies. Using fire under prescribed conditions will result in canopy mortality and ground vegetation reduction that will improve stand health and wildlife habitat. Fire severities are expected to vary across prescribed fire area with some areas experiencing high severity fire which may result in 2-20 acre stand openings due to fire mortality.” Thanks to the individual who shared this view of the burn.

It also sounds like the Black Eagle fire was more active and a bridge providing access for fire resources may have been compromised by the large fire run. The Elk Fire in Wyoming made a major run last night as well, pushing many miles. The fire is now in view of Sheridan, Wyoming. Thanks tot he subscriber who sent in this footage of the massive run it made last night.

At least one person has died, and more than 250,000 people have been forced to flee parts of Western Europe on Saturday as out-of-control wildfires continued to rage in Spain and France. In France, nearly 242,000 acres have been ravaged by wildfires – which French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said was a "historic record" nearly 10 times the size of Paris. At least 197,000 people have been evacuated in France as a result of the wildfires, in what was "probably" the biggest peacetime evacuation the country has seen, Nunez said on Saturday.
