Honestly, my reaction was mostly shock. Nobody told me how alien it would look, especially the umbilical cord. Took me a second because I was ready for blood and poop, not Body Snatcher aliens.

Only time I had to look away was when they used the surgical scissors to cut my wife. That made me shudder a bit. Beyond that, not that bad. I was more tense at the hours and hours of feeling absolutely helpless while my wife was in pain.

My husband was helping support one of my legs when our son crowned. Said the head looked so little he was expecting a little body and was surprised when all this long limbs came spilling out lol
