Those are for calves while bottle feeding, so they don't get stepped on, hurt or pass any possible disease. Dairy cows aren't good mothers

Okay good to know it looks insane when you don’t know about it

I found this video and have never seen anything like it, so I thought I would share it with everyone. Not sure if this is Kansas and not even sure what the hell all these white catches are. Someone said they are calf baby warmers. To me, it looks like prison.

This is a REAL "Kansas cattle farm"

The calves are in those for their first 60-90 days... separated from their mother and isolated for 3 months... it's terrible.

They do this so that the newborns stay healthy, until they're ready the go with the rest of the herd.

We can do better with deregulation. I want 3 cows in my field and I want to slaughter them myself and give some to my neighbors dammit.

Profilbild von Captain Poofers

So basically, this guy is misleading everyone. Surprise, Surprise. The Young calves are in fact kept separated for 90 days in pens, but this is only to prevent the spread of diseases. So this is temporary, not permanent, and is done to protect all the cows. This is why you don't listen to Vegans, and don't listen to PETA.

This is common in the dairy industry for newborn calves so they dont hurt themselves and are seperate for disease reason, only happens for a short period of time less than 3 months of their LONG ass life.

Profilbild von Deborah Corff
Deborah Corffvor 6 Tagen

Newborn calves will eat anything off the ground, including the poo of the 100 cows they could be pastured with. These are huts to protect them from the sun and rain, and keep them from being exposed to a large load of bacteria from licking everything they see. They are turned out onto pasture once their immune system is sufficient to keep them healthy. On dairy farms these are usually only replacement heifer calves. They will spend 3 months here, and then live in the herd for the rest of their life. Eating grass, frolicking, etc.

Wow, people are really dumb! This is where veal comes from! You keep the calf from walking around so that the meat don’t get tough!

This is very dishonest take! Calves are born with almost no active immune system and rely entirely on the antibodies in their mother's first milk. Because they are so vulnerable, farmers use these individual hutches to maximize survival rates.

Yes, they're babys. They separate the males and females at birth too so the cows and bulls are separate.

This is ridiculous scaremongering. Those are calf hutches. They are simply just shelter and a way to house calves still being bottle fed. There is literally nothing weird about this at all.

Profilbild von Sammon1
Sammon1vor 7 Tagen

I have these huts in my backyard and raised multiple calves due to illness or the cow has passed and the claves need to be bottle fed. They only stay in there for 90 days because they grow so fast. Once they are big they go into pasture w/ other calves. Just another example.

I driven through that area. Beef cattle horizon to horizon in pasture. Must be hundreds of thousands. I usually eat them years after they come out of these little boxes that significantly lower calf death rates compared to nature constantly trying to eat them before us.
