As a result, lowering fares negatively impacts their earnings. Additionally, some drivers pointed out that the cost of spare parts remain high, making it difficult for them to operate affordably. They are therefore calling on the government to reduce the prices of spare parts to help ease their burden and make it more feasible to lower transport fares.

Abba, who was once abducted by bandits, narrated how the driver of the vehicle they boarded allegedly led them into the k¥dna0ping incident and then escaped. Abba said they boarded a vehicle from Gusau to Sokoto at the official New Gusau Motor Park. He was traveling together with other victims, Maryam and Yasmeen. According to him, shortly after they began the journey, they stopped at a filling station to buy fuel and then continued their trip. After covering some distance, the driver started complaining that the vehicle had developed a fault. They stopped briefly for him to inspect it before proceeding again. When they got close to a military checkpoint, where soldiers had stopped vehicles for inspection, the driver allegedly refused to stop and simply drove past the checkpoint. A short distance later, Abba said he suddenly heard people praying and began seeing men with long hair, charms, and guns. Before he could fully understand what was happening, he looked toward the driver’s seat and discovered that the driver was no longer there. The driver had fled, and no one saw how or where he escaped, leaving the passengers behind.
