A large group of mostly men are persistently pelting a mosque with objects. Armed police have now arrived.

Things very very tense in Southport. Large protest near a mosque in the town, with what look like fireworks thrown at police vans. We saw a young girl crying in the crowd. Police have been concerned about far right protests in response to yesterday’s stabbing.

The crowd are now clashing with police in riot gear. Police dogs have been brought in. We have had to move back as the crowd are not happy to be filmed, to put it lightly.

Several local residents are absolutely horrified as they look on from their front gardens. “What’s the point of it?” one asks. A police van has now been set alight.

A woman who lives nearby pleads with men to stop as they continue to stream in from other parts of the country. “What are you doing?!” “You’re the problem! You keep letting them in!” the men reply.

Don’t blame this on the far right This is people who have had enough
