A lion does kill a hyena, but why doesn't it eat it?

The killing here is not to eat, but to eliminate participants that are competing for the same food chain.

Generally carnivores do not eat other carnivores because they risk illness due to shared diseases & parasites. Possible that most carnivores avoid eating scavengers like hyenas because the risk of deadlier diseases are higher, as they feed on dead carcasses.

Hyenas eat lot of dead shit and carry lot of viruses and bacteria. Lions like only good food.
