A look inside Wiener Defense. Level select. The Kitchen — our first front. A fire wave on the line. And speeds 1x, 3x, 5x because the Department respects your time. The boys are ready when you are 🎩🐕 #WienerDefense #indiedev #gamedev #godot #towerdefense #インディーゲーム

Kitchen fire wave and 1x/3x/5x respect. 5x will make me rage-quit tho

5x is for citizens with nerves of steel. The Department offers 1x for the patient and 3x for the wise. 🎩

I wonder what kind of strategies and challenges Wiener Defense has in store with its level select and different speeds

The $100 billion Microsoft invested in OpenAI is not a bet on ChatGPT. It's a bet on replacing Google's search dominance in enterprise. Every company has a Microsoft 365 contract. Bing doesn't matter. Copilot embedded in Word, Excel, and Teams does. That's the actual play.

why is the "department" referred to as something that respects players' time, rather than sumply being a level or challenge?

Why talking about returns without a timeline attached means nothing “There is a rule in our office that you are not allowed to talk about returns without also talking about time. It is very common on the private side to say you are up 2X, 3X, 5X, whatever. That tells you nothing. If you are up 5X over 30 years, that is horrible. If you are up 5X in five months, that is amazing.” Dave Morehead

Half woman, half warhorse, all business. Meet Warhoof, the centaur knight we keep in the front of the lineup. She's fast, she hits like a cavalry charge, and that blade's seen more fights than most of our servers. We spent a dumb amount of time on the armor — look at that metal finish on her lower half. Would you field a centaur on your main team, or is she too much horse for you? #Unity #GameDev #IndieDev #CharacterDesign #RPG

My PR for ubershaders and pipeline pre-compilation for Godot is up as a draft (likely headed for 4.4). The benefits are immediately apparent when running a game for the first time without a driver cache. Most of the stutters are gone! Left is the current master, right is my PR.

Working on the transitions before and after battle. I prefer to keep battles in the same location that you are exploring instead of taking you to a different screen. That way feels less like an interruption and also you can expect some action at any time! #gamedev #indiedev

Fixed this small bug in Linear’s app today which I often see in other apps as well. Here’s a small before/after. The issue: When you open a popover inside a modal (think a custom select), clicking outside the popover to close it also closes the modal. The desired behavior is to close the select on click outside while keeping the modal open. This often happens because custom dropdowns or select components are rendered in a portal. The modal then treats the interaction as an outside click because, technically, the dropdown isn’t inside the modal in the DOM, it’s rendered elsewhere via a portal. The fix depends on your setup, whether it’s Radix/Base UI, fully custom etc. But since you now know the cause of it, you can ask your agent to fix it for you!

“At 6:00 this morning the Fire Department was alerted to a report of a fire at 2086 Anthony Avenue. We arrived to find heavy fire in two buildings and very quickly transmitted a 2nd alarm. It eventually became a 3rd alarm, bringing more than 40 fire and EMS units and 150 fire and EMS personnel to the scene. We had fire throughout two buildings, and unfortunately, we did have two fatalities,” said Chief of Department John Esposito. “We did unfortunately have a car parked on the closest fire hydrant. We’ve seen that now a couple of times in the last week throughout the City. We all know that we should not be parking on fire hydrants and when you park on fire hydrants, it slows us down. When we’re fighting a fire, seconds count.” The GNY Red Cross and NYC Emergency Management are on scene to assist displaced residents. FDNY Fire Marshals are investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
