A lot of people are posting examples from relatively recent games as a rebuttal to this, but this is acting in a video game even 25 years ago.

My 2 favourite performances in gaming!

Nobody did it like them. And man, coming back to this scene after everything that happened in Deception really does show Kain in a new light. He really was trying to make the coin land on its side...

The ending of Defiance is the perfect payoff to this whole conversation. Feeling the full gravity of choice, knowing the fate of the world hangs on the advisedness of his deeds, what does Raziel do? He chooses integrity.

Ozar Midrashim will forever be one of the hardest hitting tracks of any game, and LoK will forever be one of the greatest epics of our time. Literally the only time travel story that feels like the stakes are worth a damn.

The craziest thing is the fact Ozar Midrashim wasn't made for Soul Reaver and actually predates it. It couldn't be a more perfect fit.

Legacy of Kain had voice acting even better than it's excellent writing. It's shame we haven't had a loving remaster on the order of the Demons Souls one... Let alone a conclusion to the story.

Legacy of Kain created the gold standard of voice acting in gaming. The cast just oozed talent and passion for the project. HIGHLY recommend watching the behind the scenes vids for Soul Reaver on YouTube. RIP Tony Jay, the Elder God.

Few series can match the voice work if the Soul reaver series. Though, for me, this scene is still absolutely unmatched.

God yes, Legacy of Kain. The greatest storytelling along with the greatest voice acting, in the history of gaming and arguably beyond. Simon Templeman, Michael Bell, Tony Jay, and the entire cast - they were on a whole 'nother level!

This series was incredible, it defined gaming voice acting and story telling gif me. Soul Reaver 2 was my first entry into the series. It was peak from start to finish
