I have not seen models this locked in and consistent on a major winter storm this far out in a long time. It is not hype. The ice storm aspect of this in Texas to Alabama will be major to locally extreme impact.

Line crews are on the ground in Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee assessing transmission line damage and working to restore service. We are working closely with local power companies to restore service in affected areas and coordinate restoration efforts. While the storm is moving out, extreme cold is expected this week.
