A man has shared a video secretly recorded using camera-fitted smart glasses showing how Ghana Police officers at a checkpoint collecting a bribe from him after issues were found with his documents and undisclosed items, despite the IGP’s statement that officers no longer take bribes.

Can these phenomena ever stop? Don’t we all know that this is a major source of revenue for their personal pockets that runs right up from the very top of the hierarchy down to the junior officers? My understanding is that whatever revenue generated for the night is sent back to the office for distribution among all personnel. To the extent that some even beg to be posted to checkpoints, it would be difficult to stop.

Yesterday our driver was forced to pay four times on the road from Atebubu to Kumasi. It used to be more a few years ago but the issue is still not resolved. Why can’t they collect through legal road tolls and then pay police higher wages?
