I agree. I don’t have many friends, and I’m okay with that. One major reason is that I stopped trying to please people or pretend to be someone I’m not. I think differently than most, and that naturally creates distance. I often speak with intention and layers of meaning. When someone doesn’t notice that, doesn’t try to understand it, or thinks they understand but completely miss the point, I lose interest in forming a connection. Usually, the feeling is mutual. Most people are quick to judge or make assumptions rather than take the time to truly understand someone. That’s why my circle is small. In fact, I believe I have one true friend—someone I can call at any time, who will answer and genuinely consider me a friend. And that’s enough for me.
