On Oct 7th, Keshet Casarotti-Kalfa, 21 was dancing with his friends at the Nova festival before Hamas stormed in and gunned him down. He was one of 364 festival goers who were shot dead. His body was found 4 days later. His loving family described him as a ‘ball of light.’ He is survived by his heartbroken parents, Natalia and Laurent, and his two sisters, Anan and Shemesh. Baba Kaunti shared a story about how he lost out on a major opportunity after being invited to a YouTube Summit. According to him, the summit attendees were going to be paid very well. However, at the last minute, a fellow Kenyan noticed his name on the list and claimed that Baba Kaunti was actually from Nigeria and not Kenya. Because of this allegation, the organisers replaced him with another creator who produced makeup content. When Baba Kaunti arrived at the event, he was no longer among the invited participants and instead attended as an ordinary audience member seated at the back. After the event ended, he decided to take a photo with a lady who was sitting near him and introduced himself to her. To his surprise, she told him that she had heard he was not Kenyan, which was the reason he had been removed from the list. When Baba Kaunti was shown who had made the claim, he realised it was someone he knew very well. Ironically, the woman who had replaced him at the summit turned out to be the girlfriend of the same Kenyan who had falsely claimed that Baba Kaunti was not Kenyan. His story serves as a reminder to be careful about whom you trust, even among people you consider friends.
