This is an order of magnitude greater than the largest documented upper-atmosphere events (which are measured in tens of kilometres, not hundreds). It... was captured in a single frame at 60 fps, which implies a very high apparent speed (I estimate ~80,000 mph) far exceeding what’s plausible for known atmospheric electrical discharges or TLEs. Traditional lightning (cloud-to-ground or intra-cloud) but that still involves standard tropospheric lightning, not something spanning hundreds of miles in size and moving at tens of thousands mph. Given the size, speed and transient nature of the object, it doesn’t match the known catalogue of lightning and upper-atmosphere electrical phenomena.
