A megacity with high population density that has transformed within one generation from a "third world" city with constant honking, litter, and general chaos into a thriving, clean, and disciplined metropolis despite national political uncertainty. Lots to learn from it! #Bangkok

This neighborhood of Bangkok, in the Sukhumvit Soi 39 area, is a little Japan. Looks like Japan too, the street look and feel and with electric wires overhead (standard in Japan due to earthquake risk).

And it's not just bangkok, I travelled in rural thailand and nowhere I noticed honking & littering. Basic civic sense exists nearly everywhere except India.

Not one generation! About 40 years in the making!

Fair enough. In half a lifetime is probably more accurate. 40 vs ~25 years.

This looks like Sukhumvit. Was passing through this area just this morning. Have to admit that the area has completely transformed in the last 6 years

GDP per capita is incomparable with India. Thais enjoy far higher standard of living as they are not dealing with medieval issues on day to day basis. This kind of progress is impossible in India tbh
