Alhamdullilah, our brother here has shown that religion need not change his native culture; rather it just improves it for him, and it doesn't mean he has to stick out like a sore thumb in his community either. He didn't have to wear Arabic clothing or impose his choices on anyone. Iman isn't about how you wear it, nor should it disrupt your culture, unless the practices observed are against the teachings. It's sad to see how certain group infused their culture into Islam and skewed the religion to their benefit and exploits, this unfortunately is what most of the is experiencing. Masya'Allah.

Well played brother — you’ve made a key point. Islam is a system that helps form a good father, a good businessman — a balanced human being. And as you said — Iman rises and drops in all of us. As a revert here in Australia, I’ll add something from experience: We still have a big gap when it comes to community support — not just from "mosque regulars," but across the general Muslim community toward reverts. When someone takes Shahada, they often get a big welcome — then… disappear into isolation. Many fall back into old ways not because of lack of intention — but lack of basic support and belonging. Alhamdulillah I was fortunate — I always had self-accountability and could see the reality of this world clearly. But many don’t. Through my youth program, I see this constantly — and I thank Allah for being able to help some who were on the edge of slipping. The truth is simple: People need a positive system and community around them — not just pressure to “be perfect” but an environment where Iman can grow naturally through involvement, positive acts, and companionship. Sadly, too often the "hardship" a new Muslim feels comes from within the community itself. Not the Deen — the people. This is still a real issue here — unlike in places like UAE/Dubai where structured support and true community is much stronger. It’s time we take real ownership of this gap.

So true. The journey to Islam can feel overwhelming at first — like you’re expected to be flawless from the moment you say your shahada. But the reality is: Islam is a lifelong journey, not a one-time transformation. You grow slowly, with support, du’as, and sincere effort. To anyone considering reverting: You don’t have to know everything. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to take that first step — Allah will guide the rest. 🤍 And to the Muslim community: keep being that warmth, that welcome, that reason someone doesn’t feel alone.
