@TomSwarbrick1 Man in ivory tower pulls up the rope behind himself. Tom’s entire shtick nowadays is talking the country down. Like his perma-guests Reform.

100% The reason quite simply is that Universities are an industry, rather than a higher education and moulding students ready for the work place, they just attain theoretical based certs, shackled in tens of thousands of debt. Apprenticeships are the way forward, learn and earn from day one, and work your way up. College is a laugh (like uni) but no debt and earning straight away, then when you graduate, you have theoretical and practical skills and moulded for work which entices employers. There's lashings of graduates working entry level jobs. The whole thing is a racket, and it's typically borne from parents living through their kids pushing Uni.

@TomSwarbrick1 Well it’s not as simple as that, most STEM jobs will require a degree or post grad. Problem is entry level jobs are decreasing but there is plenty of jobs for experienced professionals. Companies are outsourcing jobs to cheaper countries and running companies leaner.

University is not worth it unless you’re in a specialty program which you can guarantee yourself a job after you graduated Out of my friendship group to 2 people who did not go to university and started their own business are doing better than majority of the guys who graduated from university and another friend of mine who works in skills trades he’s doing better than them also

@TomSwarbrick1 As an employer, I am far more impressed by someone who has left school and worked in a hospitality job. If someone has run a bar, cafe, restaurant or nightclub I know they are based in reality and understand what it takes to make something run smoothly.

@TomSwarbrick1 If 140 people are already applying for 1 job, why on earth do we need immigration? Your position on these matters are confused

@TomSwarbrick1 This is exactly right. I'm lucky to have a job in what I did at uni. But its not the exact role I wanted. Jobs in those basically don't exist for entry level atm.

@TomSwarbrick1 We drastically need less people in universities and the quality of education re-concentrated. Anyone with a 70+IQ can get themselves in debt and go to university. Most 18-25 year olds who are economically inactive in university are killing the country.
