Recently got a tour of an Ohio prison, and from what I was told that one, and lots of others, at least around here, are surprisingly lax. Not with security, but with what they allow the prisoners to have and do. Life isn't much different on the inside from a summer camp, apart from pretty shitty sleeping arrangements. But they have movie and popular series nights, (they vote on what to watch, they had just started season 6 of Game of Thrones) organized games and activities, free access to exercise equipment and arts & crafts. They can get regular (searched) care packages from family and friends too, so they're not restricted to cafeteria food. The only things generally banned are addictive (i.e. cigarettes, alco**ol) and ill***gal substances.
