A young woman broke down in tears after allegedly being defrauded of about GHS 8,000 by mobile money scammers who posed as officials from MTN. According to the victim, she received a phone call from individuals claiming to be from the telecom company, who threatened to block her mobile money account. Fearing the consequences, she said she was instructed to visit multiple mobile money agents to transfer funds in order to “secure” her account. In a state of panic, the woman complied and sent the money in several transactions before later realising she had been deceived.

Surprisingly, the Mobile Money business has grown, and today over 800,000 Mobile Money vendors are operating. Today, you can renew your health insurance at home. You can also buy electricity on your phone without joining a queue. Dr. Bawumia.
